Went from stanstead to Liverpool Street London without any problem Traveling back the same way a few days later is a different story.

You can use "contactless" to travel anywhere in London on tfl, very easy and painless. If they could only send 1 or 2 of these very important people to Liverpool Street to advise passengers BOARDING the train and to sell tickets then the "fines" could be avoided, but then where is the revenue in that!

The que for "fines" was at least 6 deep when we got there, needless to say all tourists unfamiliar with this trap also missed the "signs" and like us genuinely thought we had paid at the barrier before boarding the train. Any attempt to explain your predicament is met with a chorus from all 5 very important people chipping in with their worldly advice.

One jolly rather portly gentlemen with neat silver hair advised that "when you travel anywhere in the world you buy a ticket" I told you they were important, this one has been all over the world with his words if wisdom! There is no option to buy a ticket on the train but then there are not enough seats on the train or luggage space. A service that claims to provide an airport "express" service didn't think their passengers may need extra room for luggage. Don't bother with this shambles its a con and you will feel scammed, you can do without it!

I would not travel to Stanstead again because of this. There are easier ways to take a trip to London. Read more. Greg Cambridge, UK 5, contributions. Had a modern train, nice comfy seats the journey was smooth. Otherwise, it would have been be perfect! Bought Stansted Express tickets online but didn't get an email confirmation, or tickets. They took my money though.

Called help line - no answer. Arrived Stansted quoted reference number but staff acted dumb. Had to buy more tickets. Have emailed and called multiple times, phone not answered, emails not replied to.

So expensive, extremly dirty, wifi not working. I say, if you are NOT traveling in rush hours it is better to take the bus. It is a scandal to have such a poor service since the tickets are unbelievably expensive. Never seen such dirty seat. Find another way into London.

Dirty, Expensive, Rude staff, no refunds, often does not work. I have used the Stansted Express regularly over many years. Sadly, what was once a fast, efficient, nice journey is now anything but.

The seats are old, weathered, dirty - VERY dirty - and look like they've been reclaimed from the 70's. The train itself is invariably dirty, real dirt that has built up over years. The carpets are tired. Singage to find the train which is leaving soonest is virtually non-existent and staff are too busy checking tickets to help and are often extremely rude. There are engineering works on so many weekends that I have started using Heathrow airport instead.
